Pokemon Go developer Niantic has published a new blog post on their website today which reveals two big pieces of news.
New Legendaries
Starting today, the following three legendary Pokemon will be appearing around the world: Raikou, Entei, Suicune.
From August 31st to September 30th, these three Pokemon will be traveling the world. It will give everyone a fair chance to battle and capture these legendary Pokemon. Here’s where you’ll be able to capture them first:
Raikou: North and South America
Entei: Europe and Africa
Suicune: Asia-Pacific region
On September 30th, these Pokemon will be moving to a new region where they’ll stay until October 30th. After then, they’ll be moving to their final locations around the world. So each legendary Pokemon will be available for a limited time for every region, giving everyone a fair chance at capturing them before they move to the next.
EX Raid Battle
In addition to the new legendaries, the developer is adding a new form of Raids to the game. They were previously known as Exclusive Raid Battles and will be field tested for a limited time at select gyms around the globe.
In order to take part in these Raids, you’ll need an invitation to participate. You obtain invitations by completing a Raid at that location recently. Players will also be given warnings in advance about when the Ex Raid will start so players have time to co-ordinate themselves.
EX Raid passes will start being distributed “as early as September 6” however, we don’t know how long Niantic will field test the new feature. We also don’t know when it will launch for everyone. It’s currently thought that certain Pokemon will be exclusive to the Ex Raids so players will only be able to capture them by completing one of these events.
