Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant has been delayed for its physical disc release. While digital versions will launch on September 24, boxed copies will now arrive on October 15, according to DualShockers. This shift follows the confirmation that the game has gone gold, meaning the 1.0 master code is ready for certification and digital deployment.
The digital launch window remains unchanged, but collectors will have to wait a little over three weeks for the physical edition. Remedy requested additional time to ensure the quality of the disc while keeping the rest of the launch schedule intact.
Digital Players Keep the September 24 Launch
Digital copies of Control Resonant are still scheduled to launch on September 24 through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, and various PC storefronts. The delay affects only the physical release, which is now set for October 15.
A Larger Trip Through Warped Manhattan
In an interview with DualShockers, art director Elmeri Raitanen stated that the game is “roughly twice as large” as 2019’s Control. He compared its city backdrop to the twisted New York spaces seen in Alan Wake 2, describing the new Hiss designs as rooted in otherworldly corruption and turbulent chaos rather than body horror. This framing is significant because Control effectively made every office corridor feel like a trapdoor into something stranger. Expanding this unease into a larger city gives Dylan’s story room to become messier, louder, and less contained—a promising fit for a character whose connection to the Hiss has always been more volatile than Jesse’s measured search for answers.
Collectors Face a Familiar Physical-Media Headache
For players who still want a disc on the shelf, the good news is that a physical edition is coming at all. Remedy’s Alan Wake 2 launched digitally in 2023 before receiving a Collector’s Edition more than nine months later, so Control Resonant avoids the more frustrating scenario of a boxed release appearing long after launch—or not appearing at all.
However, physical buyers must choose between waiting until October 15 or joining everyone else digitally on September 24. Remedy has not provided a specific manufacturing or logistics explanation for the delay, but the game itself remains locked for its digital launch window rather than slipping as a whole.
The delay highlights the ongoing challenges in physical media production, as major publishers increasingly prioritize digital sales. As the industry shifts, collectors may find themselves facing more delays and logistical issues in the future.
Ultimately, while the wait for physical copies may be disappointing, the digital version of Control Resonant remains on track for its scheduled release.
