Nicalis has announced that The Binding of Isaac: Repentance + Online will release on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 19, 2026. This version brings the beloved dungeon-crawling twin-stick roguelike, along with its online co-op features, to Nintendo’s latest hardware. The announcement was reported by Nintendo Everything and includes a new official teaser trailer.
This edition encompasses the full Repentance experience, including all DLC and updates, with online play supporting up to four players. The game will be available both physically and digitally under the Repentance + Online title.
Four Players Can Tackle the Basement Together
Isaac has always thrived on the tension between planning and panic: one run may grant an absurdly powerful item combination, while the next can turn a promising build into a desperate fight for survival. Online co-op alters this familiar rhythm, allowing players to join friends or enter matches with strangers to face off against Mom and navigate the twisting maze of the Basement as a team.
- Online co-op is available across all game modes, including daily runs, Greed mode, and challenges.
- Players can use preference filters to find suitable matches when hosting or searching for games.
- An emote wheel and voice chat facilitate communication during online sessions.
- New online leaderboards will track competitive play.
- An Item Descriptions option helps players understand the function of items they have collected.
The core game features over 700 items, more than 300 enemy types and bosses, multiple difficulty settings, branching routes, and numerous endings. This vast array of variables ensures that each run remains highly replayable, as a familiar room can present entirely different challenges based on the weapons, passive effects, enemies, and fellow players involved.
Online Support Gives the Chaos a Proper Home
The Switch 2 release is significant not just for the game’s mechanics but also for providing a dedicated social format. Co-op play can transform the game’s ruthless randomization into a shared problem-solving experience—or a shared disaster when someone grabs the one item the build desperately needed. Daily runs and challenges will particularly benefit, offering a clear reason for friends to return to the same brutal maze together.
The new item-description feature is a practical addition for a game with such a vast pool of pickups. While Isaac’s mystery has always been part of its charm, allowing returning players to check the function of previously collected items can reduce avoidable guesswork without diminishing the discovery process.
The Binding of Isaac: Repentance + Online arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 19; will you brave the Basement solo or team up with friends for the adventure?
