New users signing up for 12 months of PS Plus will receive a digital copy of Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition. Although the base game is frequently on sale for $10, the DLC has remained expensive. This offer included all four expansion packs: Rogue One Scarif, Bespin, Outer Rim, and Death Star. It also includes 11 extra weapons and 24 upgraded Star Cards.
A year of PS Plus is currently $60 USD, while the Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition is currently $40.
A few vocal users have complained that this offer is only available to new customers, rather than rewarding loyal customers. If I had any interest in playing more Battlefront, I’d be inclined to agree with them. While the game is stunning to look at, I find it very bland to play. The weak map design turns most matches into pew-pew long-range pistol fights.
Current and new PS Plus users will have the excellent Life is Strange headlining the June offering. Killing Floor 2, Abyss Odsyssey (PS3), WRC 5: World Rally Championship (PS3), Neon Chrome (PS4/Vita), Spy Chameleon (PS4/Vita).
The May offering is still available, and I highly recommend the hilarious Tales from the Borderlands. Even with zero prior Borderlands experience, it remains the funniest game I’ve ever played. The atmospheric ABZU is also worth a play. Check out our playthrough if you’re on the fence.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will release November 17th for PS4, Xbox One, PC. It will include a full-fledged single-player campaign, most likely included due to the backlash directed at the original’s multiplayer-centric experience. The storyline will start with the destruction of the second Death Star and fill in the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
If you’re looking for a great Star Wars game and have any kind of PC at all, be sure to check out TIE Fighter, my choice for greatest Star Wars game of all time.
That’s all for now, we’ll have the latest when it’s available.
