The extended GTA 6 trailer is getting a streaming-first debut. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said Rockstar plans to show it on Netflix before the video reaches the usual public platforms, giving subscribers the first look during a short exclusivity window.
As reported by Eurogamer, Zelnick said Rockstar felt Netflix would be a great way to show off the extended trailer. The arrangement makes the streaming service its only home for six hours.
A brief Netflix exclusive
Once that window closes, the trailer will receive a standard release on YouTube and similar platforms. The Netflix launch is therefore less about permanently restricting access and more about staging the reveal in two phases: subscriber-first, then broadly available.
That distinction matters for anyone expecting the video to remain locked behind Netflix. Its wider rollout is already part of the plan; the exclusive element applies only to the opening stretch.
Rockstar experiments with the rollout
Zelnick characterized the move as part of Rockstar trying new things while marketing the game. Rather than placing the trailer everywhere at once, the studio is using Netflix as a temporary showcase before shifting to conventional video channels.
It is a compact marketing experiment, but one that changes where fans will need to look if they want to catch the extended trailer at the earliest opportunity.
Would you watch the trailer on Netflix during its exclusive window, or wait for the wider YouTube release?
