Quarantine Zone’s developer has warned that outdated unofficial mods can crash the game, with a follow-up patch also in development to tackle more problems reported since the Miami Update launched. In an official Steam announcement, the developer said mods made and compiled for previous versions are incompatible with the current game.
The warning covers mods distributed through Nexus Mods, as well as those that function as cheat engines or trainers. The recommendation is straightforward: disable or uninstall outdated mods until their creators update them for the current version. The important distinction is version compatibility—the notice concerns mods built for an older version, rather than declaring that every unofficial mod is incompatible.
There is precedent for this particular headache. The developer said it encountered the same type of issue a few months earlier when moving the game engine from Unreal Engine 5.5 to Unreal Engine 5.7. That history provides context for the warning, but the practical advice now is about the installed mods: their authors need to update them before players resume using them.
Separately, the developer is working on a follow-up patch addressing additional problems players have encountered since the Miami Update’s launch. That puts the mod warning and the forthcoming fixes on distinct tracks: players are being asked to remove outdated mods, while the developer works on further game-side fixes. More information about the patch is due later this week.
