Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 begin August 26, 2026. The platform joins the open beta on August 28, and Activision says a pre-order is not required to enter that beta.
Infinity Ward leads development of the October 23 release. Digital Legends is developing the native Nintendo Switch 2 version.
What the preorder actually includes
Activision’s published benefits include beta access and the Hunter Killer skin. The company has not announced the previously reported 48-hour campaign early-access period for Switch 2.
No official source supports the earlier claims of a 12-to-16-hour campaign, a 1080p/60 handheld mode, Joy-Con gyro aiming or a particular cross-play implementation. Those details have been removed until Activision documents them.
The native Switch 2 port is technically interesting because Call of Duty must balance CPU-heavy multiplayer, streaming and fast input response on portable hardware. Actual resolution, frame pacing and control options need direct confirmation.
