For those who didn’t know, Devolver Digital held a press conference after the Bethesda one. However, it’s slightly debatable whether or not the show was actually a ‘press conference’ but it was certainly very entertaining.
Those who missed the event should be able to find it in the Twitch VODs once the post-show ends later today.
Anyone looking for new games shouldn’t be excited however as the conference was exactly what the company stated on Twitter. There was no new game announcements. In addition to this, games weren’t the main focus of the show. The humor and hilarious ridiculousness of it all was. The company pulled it off amazingly to create a ‘conference’ which essentially makes fun of the biggest trade show in gaming. It’s the complete opposite of what E3 usually is yet the show is incredibly entertaining to watch, even at 6AM.
However, two game trailers were shown during the brief event.
Ruiner
Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour
No new details on these games were revealed and the publisher seemed to use old trailers for both games. The star of the show was the little comedy skits which broke up the ‘conference’. Things such as “Earliest Access” where games can be pre-ordered as soon as the game idea is conceived. They were nice references and parodies to what most developers and conferences are focusing on such as “Comment Created Content” as a modding replacement.
The actual show didn’t last for too long and ended rather explosively. There is also a post-show called the “Pre-Pre-Show” where there’s another parody team looking at ‘real upcoming games’. In reality, these games are either fake or not actually being published by Devolver Digital. The first game in this show was called “Frog Smashers” which is a real game that can be found on itch.io. If you’re interested in checking this game out then you can find it here.
This was certainly an interesting addition to E3 and hopefully Devolver Digital will consider returning again next year.
