The team behind Wing Commander Prophecy: 30th Anniversary Edition discovered a mission-blocking bug the day before launch: Hrissith H5 fails immediately after it begins. The message “Your carrier was lost.” appears instantly, ending the mission before players can get underway.
The official FAQ and known-issues announcement also identifies problems with video playback, subtitles, the Autopilot camera and certain joysticks. The Hrissith H5 failure is the most consequential issue listed here, since it blocks the mission rather than affecting presentation or peripheral compatibility.
For Steam Deck players, the important distinction is between gameplay and video playback. The Enhanced version’s gameplay portion should load and run smoothly, but the new Master and Upscaled full-motion videos do not play properly. The Original FMVs do play on the handheld and can be selected through the launcher’s drop-down menu — a practical option for players encountering the video problem.
Subtitles are a separate concern: they do not appear on either the Master Source or Master Upscaled videos. That makes the choice of video source relevant beyond image quality, particularly for players who rely on captions to follow dialogue.
The remaining issues affect the camera and input hardware. On certain hardware configurations, entering Autopilot does not shift the camera to its wide view. Joystick users should also check their controller’s input support: certain joysticks that do not use DirectInput are incompatible with the game.
