Bethesda Game Studios has revealed The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel, unveiling the sequel’s subtitle and logo. Variety reports that Todd Howard presented the name and logo in a video message as part of Bethesda’s 40th anniversary.
The subtitle has a specific place in Elder Scrolls geography: Sentinel is a city in Hammerfell, a province on Tamriel, the continent where the series is set. Hammerfell lies west of Cyrodiil and southwest of Skyrim. That makes the name a geographical reference, though the title alone should not be treated as a map of the sequel’s playable world.
The reveal comes after a development timeline stretching back to Bethesda’s E3 2018 conference, where The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced. The project entered active production in 2023, following the launch of Starfield — making this a naming reveal for an already-announced game, rather than the announcement of a new project.
Sentinel will follow Skyrim in the Elder Scrolls role-playing franchise. Released in 2011, Skyrim remains Bethesda Game Studios’ most-played game, giving its successor an unusually enduring predecessor to follow.
