Following a slew of rumors and leaks, Square Enix has confirmed the next Lara Croft game with be Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and it’s releasing sooner than you would think. While the last entry in the Tomb Raider series was a timed exclusive for Xbox One, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 14th, 2018.

Square Enix confirmed the game by releasing its first official teaser trailer, which you can watch above. It’s short, but packs in a lot of action and just about everything you’d expect from a Tomb Raider trailer — jungle, heavy artillery, rock climbing, bow and flaming arrow, Lara Croft sliding down slippery terrain. The 23-second video also offers a glimpse at what appear to be Mayan temples, hinting at a Central or Souther American location.

In addition to the teaser trailer, a full game revealed is scheduled for April 27th. The teaser, release date, and full reveal date were all leaked yesterday by fans on Twitter who found the information in the Tomb Raider website’s source code. The source code indicated the reveal event on April 27th will include details on pre-order incentives and more.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be the third and final title in the rebooted Lara Croft series, which began with Tomb Raider in 2013. It was followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015. In Tomb Raider games, you control Lara Croft as you explore ancient locations, navigate through traps, solve puzzles, fight enemies, and uncover treasure.

Learn more about Shadow of the Tomb Raider on April 27th during the reveal event. In the mean time, you can check out the Tomb Raider movie, in theaters March 16th.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
