Rumor: Bayonetta and Vanquish Coming to PS4 and Xbox One

  • September 11, 2017
  • Mischa McGill

Here’s something that has the internet abuzz. Listings have surfaced for a Bayonetta / Vanquish dual pack coming to PS4 and Xbox One. So far no major retailers have the games listed on their sites, but Alza.co.uk, Film-Game.cz, and Estelacnesie all have similar pages for the dual pack.

BayonettaThe listings are questionable at best, so take the rumor with a grain of salt. But let’s dive into a little bit of gratuitous hype and analysis anyways.

Both SEGA games enjoyed success on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC — plus Wii U for Bayonetta — and saw remastered ports for PC earlier in the year. PS4 and Xbox One releases would make sense for the shiny new versions of the games, but can we really trust the sources here?

The original Alza.co.uk listing has a description that was either written very quickly or translated poorly.

“Bayonetta and Vanquish have had a great success, and now comes in a joint edition which you can get both titles at once.”

Not very convincing. And I haven’t analyzed the box art, posted above, but it looks like something that I could throw together on PicMonkey — and I am less than great at photo editing.

The listings show an “expected” release date of November 2017 and a price of £39.90 / $52 USD. If true, this dual pack could be a great Black Friday deal in the U.S. and holiday season promotion for both consoles.

Despite the suspicious listings, this remaster dual pack of Bayonetta and Vanquish makes sense, so I want to believe it’s real. But I’ll err on the side of skepticism until we hear from SEGA or see leaks on major retailers’ websites.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
