A trailer apparently showing a remake of the original Persona has surfaced on YouTube, uploaded without warning by a new account, according to Video Games Chronicle. It’s a potentially substantial leak — but neither Sega nor Atlus has confirmed that the remake is in development.
VGC describes a montage that appears to feature gameplay, combat and dialogue, with visuals resembling the recent Persona 3 and Persona 4 remakes. The footage reportedly pairs that look with a modified user interface and remixed music from the original game. Those details suggest an attempt to present the first Persona through the visual language of the newer remakes, rather than simply reproduce its original presentation.
Authenticity is the immediate question. VGC cautions that videos of this kind could be created using AI, so the footage should not be treated as confirmation ahead of an official reveal. That possibility is a reason for caution, not evidence that this particular video was AI-generated.
The report says Persona fans generally appear to believe the footage is legitimate, though discussion is split over whether it shows actual gameplay or an internal pitch intended to get a remake approved. That distinction matters even if the video proves genuine: a proposal for a project and footage from a game in development would tell very different stories.
There is relevant context behind the interest in an original Persona remake. As VGC notes, Persona 4 Revival producer Kazuhisa Wada said in August that he personally believed remakes of Persona and Persona 2 were projects Atlus should — and had to — make. The newly surfaced footage puts that previously expressed ambition back in the spotlight.
