Mortal Kombat 2 has delivered a strong follow-up to its theatrical run, becoming HBO Max’s most-streamed movie by a wide margin after arriving on the platform in July. The chart-topping performance follows a worldwide box office total of $129.4 million.
The video game adaptation debuted in theaters on May 8, 2026, before making its way to streaming later in the summer. FlixPatrol’s rankings placed it firmly at No. 1 among movies available on HBO Max.
A solid theatrical run
Mortal Kombat 2 opened with $48 million at the domestic box office. According to Box Office Mojo, the film ultimately earned $79.7 million in North America and added $49.7 million from international markets.
That gave the sequel substantial exposure in cinemas before its HBO Max release, with both domestic and overseas audiences contributing to its total.
