Modern Warfare 4 is bringing Call of Duty to Switch 2, finally delivering the franchise’s first release across Nintendo’s Switch hardware. The arrival also puts Microsoft and Nintendo’s long-standing agreement into practice after years without a Call of Duty launch on either system.
Wccftech reports that the game’s pre-order beta is currently live on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Switch 2 players are not included, although select creators have already tested the Nintendo version.
Delivering on the Microsoft-Nintendo deal
Microsoft and Nintendo signed a binding 10-year contract on February 21, 2023, covering Call of Duty releases on Nintendo platforms. As Wccftech notes, the agreement depended on Microsoft completing its acquisition of Activision.
No series entry subsequently arrived on the original Switch or its successor before Modern Warfare 4. That makes this release the first tangible result of the companies’ Call of Duty commitment for Nintendo players.
Early Switch 2 footage arrives
According to Wccftech, content creators from Spawn Wave and Nintendo World Report played the Switch 2 edition ahead of its public beta. Both shared gameplay footage and impressions from their hands-on time.
That creator coverage offers an early look at the Nintendo release while its beta remains unavailable to the wider Switch audience. Meanwhile, players on the other listed platforms can already access the pre-order test.
Will Modern Warfare 4 make Switch 2 part of your regular Call of Duty setup, or are you sticking with another platform?
