War Thunder is adding the Hawk T Mk1A to Great Britain’s aviation lineup in its next major update. The aircraft will join the game as a Rank V strike aircraft, while pre-orders have opened for a separate premium version through the Hawk T Mk1A (FRP) Pack.
The standard and FRP models occupy the same broad role: the Hawk T Mk1A (FRP) is also a British Rank V strike aircraft. War Thunder has not yet announced the next update’s name or release date, and it has not confirmed whether both versions will become available simultaneously.
Developed from the two-seat training variant of the Hawk jet series, the T Mk1A is adapted for ground attack. Its strengths are low-speed handling, agility and a solid selection of anti-tank ordnance, giving it a clear focus on attacking ground targets rather than competing as a high-speed interceptor.
That distinction matters because the Hawk is subsonic and carries neither guided weapons nor air-to-air missiles. Pilots will therefore need to rely on positioning, conventional ordnance and the aircraft’s handling characteristics. Its lack of missile armament also makes target selection especially important whenever enemy aircraft enter the area.
The premium FRP version provides another route into this Rank V attacker, although the pre-order announcement does not state the pack’s price, included extras or availability date. Players considering the purchase will need to check those practical details once they are published rather than assuming what accompanies the aircraft.
For Britain’s Rank V lineup, the Hawk T Mk1A is shaping up as a specialised ground attacker with obvious trade-offs: agile at lower speeds and equipped to tackle armour, but limited by subsonic performance and entirely unguided armament. Its next stop is War Thunder’s forthcoming major update, with the premium FRP pack already entering the pre-order phase.
