It pays to be a Twitch Prime member this fall.
One of the most pleasant surprises this summer was the unveiling of Twitch Prime: a premium streaming service included as part of Amazon Prime. With a Twitch Prime account you get access not only to ad-free viewing and free subscriptions on Twitch, but to free games and exclusive content as well. Twitch recently unveiled its fall lineup for members, and it’s looking pretty dang good.
Watch_Dogs 2
There’s quite a bit of free stuff that you can claim between November 7 and December 12. The big ticket item here is a bundle of DLC for Watch_Dogs 2. There’s nothing huge, but you can score some cool swag and XP boost items. The bundle includes the following:
- Twitch-themed Hoodie character skin
- Exclusive XP boost
- Pixel Art customization pack of skins for character, vehicle, weapon, and drone
- Guts, Grit, and Liberty customization pack of skins for character and vehicle
Twitch would also like me to remind you that, as an Amazon Prime member, you’re also entitled to 20% off of your Watch_Dogs 2 pre-order.
This War of Mine: Anniversary Edition
Also included is This War of Mine: Anniversary Edition. Canadian Mat has a little more experience with this game. I’ve never played it myself, but from what I hear it can be a powerful, melancholic experience. The Anniversary Edition includes new locations, new characters, and alternate endings.
Punch Club
I’m particularly excited about this one. I’ve wanted to play Punch Club ever since it was announced. I’m a sucker for old-school visuals and addictive micro RPGs. If you’ve ever played and loved a Kairosoft game on mobile, then Lazy Bear Games Punch Club would probably appeal to you. From the post:
“Your father was brutally murdered before your eyes. Now you must train hard, eat chicken and punch dudes in the face to earn your place in the Punch Club ranks, and discover who ended your father’s life.”
- Fighter management sim with RPG and tycoon elements
- Find out who killed your father, and maybe learn something about yourself along the way
- Heavily story-driven, with multiple different narrative branches and game endings to discover
- Get as deep with stats as you like, and find your own way through extensive skill trees
- Gorgeous pixel visuals with 80–90s references and nostalgia all over the place
That’s an incredible lineup. At this rate, Twitch Prime is going to be giving Xbox Live Games With Gold and PlayStation Plus a run for their money. That’s good for us; competition can only lead to better offerings.
