State of Play reveals release date for The Last of Us Part II

Today’s State of Play from PlayStation was only short at around 22 minutes. It crammed in a lot though and included some goodies that should get everybody excited at least about something. Let’s get straight into it.

The Last of Us Part II

The one we’ve all been waiting for and PlayStation didn’t let us down. We got a release date of 21.2.20 and a new look at the game’s story. Including Ellie, character Tommy, and Joel made an appearance. Be careful watching though as it may reveal too much of what’s going to happen.

Death Stranding

In terms of gameplay or story, there was nothing new revealed at State of Play. However, we did get a look at a Limited Edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro Bundle available 8/11/2019.

MediEvil

The MediEvil demo is coming to the PS Store today. There’s extra incentive to play it – as if we needed it – completing the demo will give you Dan’s Helmet in the full release. Don’t let it go bone-cold. You’ve got till October 6th to play and finish the demo.

Arise

Arise. The dark horse of the show. The reveal trailer is Zelda-like and shows the journey of a character in a beautiful setting. We’ll keep our eyes open for new details on this one.

PS Plus October

We now know our PS Plus lineup for October. MLB The Show 19 is coming and fittingly The Last of Us Remastered.

PS VR

PS VR owners rejoice. L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is available today. It includes seven self-contained cases from the original rebuilt to suit PlayStation VR.

PlayStation also has new and upcoming VR titles including:

  • Espire 1: VR Operative – September 2019
  • Stardust Odyssey – Winter 2019
  • After the Fall – 2020
  • Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash! – Autumn 2019

Humanity

We got an exclusive reveal of a new game coming in 2020 called Humanity that looks super wacky. It also has optional PS VR support. Please let us know if you have any ideas on what it’s all about.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

A very well put together story trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was shown. It breathes new life into the IP, showing off the setting and what to expect in the game’s story. The global balance of power is under threat, and you’re right in the middle of sorting it all out. It’s out October 25th.

Afterparty

Afterparty brings Satan to our screens as you take the role of Milo and Lola. Best buds who find themselves down in Hell. Don’t sweat, outdrink Satan and he’ll give you a ticket back to earth. It’s a throwback to PS1 era visuals and music style, and we can’t wait to see more of it.

Wattam

Super adorable! You can’t not like the look of this game. It’s cute beings all put together. A new gameplay trailer is out, and the game’s available this December.

Civilization VI

Turn-based strategy fanatics will be excited to hear that Civilization VI is making its debut on PS4 – finally. There is also a Rise & Fall and Gathering Storm Expansion Bundle. And exclusive to PlayStation 4 a free Nubia + Khmer and Indonesia Civ & Scenario Packs. Make your move on November 22nd, 2019.

Well, we hope there was something there for you and more. All the videos above were from PlayStation’s State of Play. Or you can watch the full show below. What caught your eye? Let us know!

Lachlan's passion for gaming started when he played DOS games like Commander Keen and Wacky Races. His passion grew when he discovered his Aunt's Atari 2600 and was given a Game Boy for Christmas from his Pa. His favourite console has been the PlayStation 1. Right now he has become a little lazy with gaming but still enjoys the occasional FIFA session. He hopes to get back into playing games more regularly so he can switch off from the real world like he did as a Kid. He's excited about the introduction of VR and hopes for some great VR titles.
