Respawn Entertainment seems to be determined to support Titanfall 2 with great content. The developer has now announced that their game will be getting a four player co-op horde mode next week. This will be the first cooperative mode in the game.

The new co-op mode is called “Frontier Defense” and will be launching as part of the Operation Frontier Shield update. Just like the rest of the update, Frontier Defense will be free to all Titanfall 2 players.

As expected from a horde mode, players will be fighting wave after wave of enemies. However, the mode is limited to five waves so it seems to be on the short side. Despite this, the developer has promised this mode will be incredibly strategic.

Killing enemies will reward players with cash. This money can be spent between waves to purchase different tools and traps to help kill enemies. However, we don’t know much about how this system works just yet. We also don’t know how difficult or how long each wave will be. However, we do know that there will be three difficulty modes for players to fight through. Hopefully Respawn Entertainment will make a post soon explaining this a little bit more ahead of the launch.

In addition to the new mode, the update will also come with the Aegis Ranks system. A new Titan progression system that lets players unlock new upgrades. This is currently exclusive to the new co-op mode.

The co-op mode is supported on all of the existing maps including the ‘new’ map. The ‘new’ map coming with this update is “Rise”. It was originally in the first Titanfall game so it’s not a completely new map.

We’ll keep you updated on the new mode. Check out the trailer below.
