CD Projekt RED is adding Xbox Play Anywhere support to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt through its Remastered update. According to GamingBolt, existing Xbox owners will consequently receive a free Windows copy of the game.
That makes the update more than a conventional remaster for Xbox players: ownership will extend from console to Windows without requiring another purchase. GamingBolt’s report does not specify whether particular Xbox editions or purchase types are excluded, describing the benefit broadly as applying to players who already own an Xbox copy.
The change is not expected to alter PC versions sold through storefronts such as Steam, GamingBolt reports. In practical terms, the newly granted Windows copy is tied to the Xbox Play Anywhere addition rather than a wider conversion or replacement of existing PC purchases.
CD Projekt RED had already unveiled Remastered as a free update across all platforms, according to GamingBolt.
