Rebel Wolves is preparing a major The Blood of Dawnwalker patch for the beginning of October, with a lower difficulty setting and several targeted combat fixes among the planned changes, according to Insider Gaming.
The new easiest difficulty is intended for players who want to concentrate on the story rather than the combat challenge. The game’s existing Story setting will consequently be renamed to something along the lines of Demanding, although the final difficulty names and exact patch date have not been confirmed.
Combat targeting is also getting an important adjustment. Insider Gaming reports that the update will stop the game from automatically switching a player’s locked-on target after a stun attack against a group. In crowded encounters, retaining control of that lock-on should make follow-up decisions more deliberate rather than having the game select another opponent.
Escaping combat is the other immediate priority. The October patch will reportedly introduce a temporary fix that lets players ignore the navigation mesh while fleeing an encounter. Rebel Wolves is also working on a broader change concerning escape and running during combat, but there is no confirmed release window for that more comprehensive solution.
The interesting detail is that Rebel Wolves appears to be addressing both ends of the difficulty problem: players who find combat too demanding will receive a more accommodating mode, while those engaging with the existing systems should gain more reliable targeting and retreat behaviour. The navigation-mesh workaround is explicitly temporary, so October’s update is a practical intervention rather than the final word on combat movement.
Further ahead, Rebel Wolves is exploring New Game Plus, though that mode is not confirmed for the October patch and its potential contents have not been detailed. The update follows a strong opening for The Blood of Dawnwalker: Insider Gaming reports that the game launched earlier in September and sold one million units during its first week.
