Red Dead Redemption has been delayed until 2018. In a surprise announcement by Rockstar, the company has decided to delay their upcoming game until Spring 2018.
The announcement was first made on Twitter by the official Rockstar account. However, the company has also posted a blog post explaining some of the reasoning behind this choice. According to the blog post this decision has been made for one main reason. The developers are “firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready”. As a result, Red Dead Redemption 2 is being delayed until next year where the developers believe it will be ready.
However, the blog post does note that more details will be coming this summer. While this doesn’t confirm exactly when, it’s possible they are referring to E3 which takes place in a few weeks time. E3 is the perfect place for game announcements and news so it’s possible that Rockstar will reveal something then.
To make up for this delay, Rockstar has decided to release several new screenshots of the game. All of them can be found on the official blog post from Rockstar. It’s currently uncertain if these images are actual gameplay or taken from cinematic cutscenes. One things for sure, these images look amazing.
In other related news, publisher Take-Two Interactive has suffered a stock price drop. This drop came shortly after the news of the delay was released. When the market closed yesterday, the company was getting close to their all time high. However, they plummeted almost 9% after the delay was announced. It’s difficult to say if these two events are directly connected however.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released for the Xbox One and PS4 in Spring 2018. A PC version for the game has not been announced yet and it’s uncertain if Rockstar will port the game.
