Nintendo Today! Adds Daily Zelda Cards, Quizzes, and Catch-Up Rewards
Nintendo Today! has added The Legend of Zelda Collection Cards, turning the smart-device app into a daily stop for digital Zelda collectibles. According to IGN, one new card will become available each day, featuring characters, items, and other elements drawn from across the series’ history.
Each card also provides a quiz challenge. Correct answers can unlock digital rewards, including wallpapers and collectible cards users previously missed. That catch-up reward is the smart part: the daily schedule encourages regular check-ins without necessarily making one skipped day permanent.
IGN also reports that selecting The Legend of Zelda theme changes Nintendo Today!’s animated calendar and home-screen widget, adding scenes from throughout the franchise. To activate it, tap the Profile icon at the bottom-right of the app and open the Theme section.
Nintendo Today! is free on compatible smart devices and provides daily Nintendo updates based on user preferences. It requires a Nintendo Account, persistent internet access, and compatible hardware.
The app update arrives alongside a wider Zelda hardware push. IGN reports that Nintendo has opened preorders for the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 console, due to ship October 29. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is scheduled for November 5, with Walmart’s preorder reportedly priced $10 below other retailers.
Anyone pairing that console with extra storage needs to watch the specification: Switch 2 has 256GB onboard and supports only MicroSD Express expansion, meaning standard MicroSD cards carried over from the original Switch will not work. IGN lists Walmart’s Onn 256GB MicroSD Express card at $46.77 and the 512GB version at $84.77, both with free shipping. The Onn model is described as reaching write speeds up to 800MB/s and read speeds up to 600MB/s.
Storage can disappear quickly even with 256GB built in. IGN says Ocarina of Time will require 27GB, while Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will use 30GB. Between the October 29 console shipment, November 5 Zelda release, and daily cards already rolling out through Nintendo Today!, Nintendo’s anniversary plans now span the app, hardware, and storage aisle.
