The latest UK gaming charts are here and despite animation-gate, Mass Effect Andromeda tops the list.

charts compiled by Chart Track, (C)2017 UKIE Ltd

1- Mass Effect: Andromeda

Maybe all press is good press after all! If Andromeda keeps turning a profit, EA/Bioware’s will-they-won’t-they sequel/trilogy could be a go. Although I was disappointed with Andromeda, I’d like to see Bioware Montreal get a chance to redeem themselves with a bag full of assets and a second crack at the Frostbite engine.

2- Ghost Recon Wildlands

This is a funny one. The open-world co-op helicopter-flying vehicle-stealing nature made me want to play this as a goofy shooter, but it plays by strict Tom Clancy rules. A few bullets is all it takes to down your soldier, so careful, measured stealth is usually the best way to go. If you can find a few friends into taking roles of spotting, sniping, and infiltrating, you could have a fantastic time with this.

Judging by the World Wars, it’s no surprise the Brits love teaming up for war.

3- Lego Worlds

After Minecraft took over the gaming world with it’s lego-esque creation gameplay, I’m surprised it took the real Lego this long to make a version of their own. Might be worth getting just to check out Metal Gear Solid in lego-vision

4- Horizon Zero Dawn

Remember when Sony put out an impressive amount of unimpressive exclusives for the PS3? Well the PS4 has been building a much more impressive list of system-sellers and Horizon can sit atop that list beside its good friends Bloodborne and Uncharted 4. If you’re missing out on the Zelda love because you think Nintendo consoles are for babies, this one is for you. You big adult you.

5- GTA V

Dear lord Rockstar is good at video gaming! The best part of their success is that they don’t flood the market with annual release crap (although they got close with the spinoffs many years back). I have a copy of this game on PS3 and have yet to play past the first mission. Maybe I’ll play the remaster on PS5 or the Vita 2!

6- Breath of the Wild

March 3, 2017 will be a cherished gaming memory where Nintendo made me feel like a kid again. Nintendo was smart to have a gigantic game as their launch title to buy some time for the next wave. Nintendo promises a big E3 this year, hopefully they don’t just announce games from E3 2013.

7- FIFA 17

If bangers and mash was a video game, it would be on this chart as well.

8- Rocket League

If bangers and mash controlled by remote cars was a video game, it might be here too. Rocket League’s amazing success is one of the best parts of the industry. Best sports game of the last decade.

9- COD Infinite Warfare

It’s not at the insane levels of the Modern Warfare days, but the COD brand is still strong. I found the single player plodding and dull, relying too heavily on the cover-and-heal gameplay. American Matt vouches for the gun game in multiplayer and it has Zombies.

I wish Titanfall 2 was in this spot instead.

10- Forza Horizon 3

Brits love bangers and mash, football, and racing.

11- Halo Wars 2

Xbox fans lost a few of their upcoming exclusives, but they still have an RTS game in 2017!

12- Battlefield 1

The Brits won this war. Good memories for them.

13- Overwatch

I go through phases with this game, most recently I had my confidence shattered in competitive mode. The line “we don’t want to re-team with you, we just got slaughtered!” will echo through my head for months to come.

14- For Honor

Ubisoft makes many mundane single-player games, but their multiplayer offerings have been fresh and exciting. Glad to see new ideas do well.

15- Forza Motorsports 5

If you’ve ever seen the dinky little cars they drive in England, you’ll understand why they love racing games filled with cars actually fun to drive.

16- 1-2 Switch

The strategy of releasing nothing else seems to have worked. If Snipper Clips had a live-action demo it could’ve done even better!

17- Minecraft- Xbox Edition

Think of how many UK homes have a $400 Xbox that only plays FIFA and Minecraft…

18- Rare Replay

I’m not saying British people are cheap, but when a game that offers 30 old games for $30 is still a best-seller…

19- Resident Evil 7

In the British version, you play as an immigrant, the house is in England, and the family are Brexit supporters trying to get you off their land.

20- Sniper Elite 4

I had zero interest in this game but their positive community discussing it on our website almost made me want to play it. Almost.

Mathew Falvai

Mathew is a huge fan of Space, Strategy, and Shadowrun (Genesis version is #1). When it comes to games and films, he’d much rather experience a 10/10 classic from yesteryear than a 6/10 modern blandfest. He does feel we’re living in a gaming golden age with the power of indie developers at an all-time high, but wishes AAA publishers would take more risks. Mat believes it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and new ideas take their rightful place above reboots.
