New content is coming to GTA Online next week with the Smuggler’s Run update that takes you to the skies for airborne illegal activity. The free update goes live August 29th.
Rockstar recently revealed the update, which is named after the 2000 title Smuggler’s Run. The original game focused on transporting cargo of questionable legality much like the upcoming addition to Grand Theft Auto V‘s online mode. In GTA Online’s Smugglers Run, however, players will focus on airborne vehicles like planes, choppers, and even ultralights.
“Smuggler’s Run delivers a massive range of new, customizable aircraft perfect for any mission along with expansive new aircraft hangars in which to stash your fleet of fantastic flying machines,” said Rockstar. “These new properties are also the HQ from which you manage your smuggling business – guided by Nervous Ron and assisted by Charlie, your new mechanic, who’ll take care of your collection of exotic aircraft.”
Missions will be focused on smuggling contraband and airborne combat, but players will still have plenty to do on the ground with planning the job, infiltrating facilities, and taking out guards.
In addition to Smuggler’s Run, Rockstar also announced big changes to stunt races in GTA Online. Upcoming races will takes players across land, air, and sea, with checkpoints that automatically change the type of vehicle to suit to racetrack’s current terrain.
Stunt race changes, along with other new vehicles, new competitive Adversary Modes, and holiday-themed content, will be rolling out on GTA Online in the coming months. No specific dates were given for these updates, but we’ll keep you posted as Rockstar makes announcements.
Grand Theft Auto V is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
