Ubisoft have announced today that their upcoming racing game The Crew 2 has an official release date. The Crew 2 is the sequel to the 2014 open world racing game, The Crew. Ubisoft made the announcement at video games convention show Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
The racing game will be launching for PS4, Xbox One and PC next year on March 16th. Ubisoft has also confirmed that a beta is coming ahead of the launch. Details on this are still limited so we don’t know when it will be released or what it will contain. Anyone on Xbox One, PC or PS4 can sign up to the beta on The Crew 2’s official website here. As expected, the game will run through UPlay.
Just like the first game The Crew 2 is set in open world USA. Players will be able to drive cars, boats and planes which is a huge upgrade over the previous car exclusive game. Gamers will be able to switch between land, sea and air almost seamlessly through the “Fast Fav” feature. This feature allows players to switch between different types of vehicles without needing to actively stop moving. It provides a large amount of freedom for players to explore the world of The Crew 2.
The game also features four main motorsport categories: Street racing, off-road, pro and freestyle. Each one has a different set of rules with a variety of unique vehicles for players to select from. We don’t know yet how many of these are also open to sea and air vehicles, however.
The Crew 2 will be releasing next year on March 16th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. We’ll keep you updated on any new announcements.
