Koei Tecmo recently confirmed both the Western and the Japanese release dates for Attack on Titan 2. The game will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on March 20th in North America and Europe, and for PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Switch, and PC on March 15th in Japan.
Attack on Titan 2‘s release dates were announced in the above story trailer, which shows off characters fans will know from the anime and manga. You’ll be able to play as several iconic human characters and use their omni-directional gear to maneuver around and fight titans. Though the first Attack on Titan game’s combat system was criticized for its simplicity, developers worked to make the sequel’s combat more challenging and engaging. Similarly, fighting as a titan on the other side of the battle should be a better experience in Attack on Titan 2.
In addition to release dates, Koei Tecmo also revealed a few new playable characters that are coming to Attack on Titan 2. Annie Leonhart, Bertholdt Hoover, Reiner Braun, the Female Titan, the Colossal Titan, and the Armored Titan have all been confirmed for the game. The Characters page on Attack on Titan 2‘s website lists all 25 confirmed playable characters with placeholders for five still unannounced and an “and more…” teaser at the bottom.
As for the story, Attack on Titan 2 won’t be quite as linear as the first. The base camp will be expanded with increased activities and narratives for more interesting gameplay outside of combat. The story will follow the second season of the anime, and players can expect much more interactivity with other characters that will be working into the story.
Attack on Titan 2 is scheduled to release on March 15th in the West for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. For more details, visit the game’s official website.
