The new Assassin’s Creed game has been leaking everywhere recently, and we’re all trying to soak it up. The leaks all point to the same title and release date, and some interesting gameplay details have been revealed.
According to posts on Reddit and Imgur, an upcoming issue of Game Informer confirms the rumor that the title is Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and it takes place in Egypt. The leaked media, pictured below, also puts the release date at October 27th of this year.
These most recent leaks confirm the protagonist as Bayek, who begins the game as a Madjay, a member of this civilization’s police force.
The combat system has been reworked so that enemies no longer take turns attacking you, so you’ll have to get a bit more strategic in battles. Additionally, more interactivity has been added to the world — you can remove enemy arrows from your shield and use them in your own bow. Also, you can use wild animals attacking each other to your advantage during battle and other opportune moments.
In Assassin’s Creed: Origins, you’ll be able to raid tombs, ride camels, marvel at ancient monuments mid-construction, and swim underwater for sunken treasure. You can fire multiple arrows at once and access a wide range of weapons with varying strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.
Ubisoft has announced a new Assassin’s Creed title for this fiscal year but has yet to say a word about any leaked information. It’s hard to deny all these Origins leaks though. We’re expecting a reveal and some more details at E3.
The press conference for Ubisoft is scheduled for Monday June 12th at 1:00 p.m. PT / 4:00 p.m. ET, but we could see this title at Microsoft’s conference, which is on Sunday June 11th at 2:00 p.m. PT / 5:00 p.m. ET.
