The developers of Message From Aliens have outlined a three-part roadmap for future updates, built around the premise of aliens sending another message after about a decade or so. The official Steam announcement sets out plans for more alien science, additional correspondents and a text adventure.
The science portion currently includes grammar, biology and computer architecture that differs from human computer architecture. That gives this part of the roadmap a scope beyond language alone, extending into how the aliens’ bodies and computing systems work.
The second part calls for messages from 14 additional alien individuals. One would explain what happened to the 14 aliens featured in the first message, while the remaining places are open to player submissions. That planned contribution provides a direct narrative connection to the earlier correspondents alongside space for player-written material.
An alien text adventure makes up the third part of the roadmap. A few other mini-games may also be added, though those are possibilities rather than firm additions.
The numbered plan is not a fixed release sequence: whichever component is completed first will be published first.
