For those who aren’t aware yet, the 2017 Steam Summer Sale just officially gotten underway. Just as PayPal predicted earlier this week, the 2017 Steam Summer Sale started yesterday at 6pm BST. The sale brings a large amount of discounts for PC gamers to sink their teeth into while also adding a new quest system for the event.
The quest system acts as the ‘mini-game’ for this sale where players much complete different tasks to earn stickers. These tasks are relatively mundane. The current ones include looking at the friend activity page and going through the Discovery queue. While the current quests aren’t very exciting, we don’t know what Valve has in store so we could see some interesting quests coming in the future. New quests will be added for each day of the sale however, they don’t provide Steam Trading Cards for completing them.
The Summer Sale trading cards can be earned by crafting badges and purchasing games instead. This isn’t very surprising as it follows the past traditions set by other Steam Sales. However, the small events from past sales have usually rewarded players with trading cards.
While the quest system seems to be a nice addition to the sale, the main focus this year is on the discounts. As expected, there will be no rotating discounts. So these prices are as good as they’ll get. Anyone looking to make some purchases don’t need to wait until the end of the sale. It’s safe to purchase them now as there won’t be any more price drops. Which is a shame considering that’s what most PC gamers were hoping to see come back to the sales. Despite this, there are some great discounts this year and plenty for gamers to look through.
As predicted, the 2017 Steam Summer Sale will be ending on July 5th. Giving players just under 2 weeks to make their purchases.
