Make some DLC they said, add a chapter of adventure you think. Fortunately for the fans, Naughty Dog isn’t able to do anything on the small scale, and their ‘DLC’ expanded to a stand-alone adventure nearly the length of a full-on Uncharted main entry.

The latest trailer – released today – doesn’t hold back either. The Lost Legacy looks to be another grand tale with epic set-pieces and cinematic narrative.

Starring Chloe (Uncharted 2/3) and Nadine (Uncharted 4), this wo-mance brings together two of the more dangerous characters in the Uncharted universe. I assumed Nadine – the antagonist merc – would cause the most trouble, but it seems like Chloe is always one step away from sacrificing Nadine for her greater good.

The critics have also weighed in a few days ahead of release. The general consensus tends to praise the two protagonists, writing, and set-pieces the series is known for. The detractors have criticized the ’empty open-world’, and reliance on old mechanics.

Basically, it sounds like your enjoyment of Lost Legacy will rely on how much you enjoyed the last few Uncharted games, which sounds just fine to me.

Speaking of more of the same, the girls in Lost Legacy are on the hunt for an artifact.

“In order to recover an ancient artifact and keep it out of the hands of a ruthless warmonger, Chloe must enlist the aid of renowned mercenary Nadine Ross and venture to India’s Western Ghats to locate the Golden Tusk of Ganesh. In Chloe’s greatest journey yet, she must confront her past and decide what she’s willing to sacrifice to forge her own legacy.”

On the new side, the locale hasn’t been explored yet by ND and Drake:

“For the first time, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will take the series to the south-western coast of the Indian peninsula— the home of the former Hoysala Empire—which will feature an exotic mix of urban, jungle, and ancient ruins environments.”

Lost Legacy releases this Tuesday, Aug. 22, available for pre-load and midnight (EST, 9PM PST) playing through PSN. It’s priced at $40 USD.

“Owners of UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End Digital Deluxe Edition, UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End Triple Pack, and UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End Explorer’s Pack will receive UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy as a download at launch.”

I’ll be streaming Lost Legacy as soon as it comes in the mail on Aug 22, which could be 930 AM EST, or a little later in the day. Check our discord or youtube channel to check it out with us.

Mathew is a huge fan of Space, Strategy, and Shadowrun (Genesis version is #1). When it comes to games and films, he’d much rather experience a 10/10 classic from yesteryear than a 6/10 modern blandfest. He does feel we’re living in a gaming golden age with the power of indie developers at an all-time high, but wishes AAA publishers would take more risks. Mat believes it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and new ideas take their rightful place above reboots.
