Some U.S. Army soldiers can earn four-day passes for the GTA 6 launch by reenlisting, turning Rockstar Games’ November release into a retention incentive at Fort Stewart, Georgia. As Variety reports, the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division is offering this pass to eligible active-duty soldiers who sign a new reenlistment contract of at least two years.
A Four-Day Pass for a Two-Year Commitment
The offer applies to soldiers who reenlist for between two and six years from August 1 through November 14. The promised reward is a four-day pass timed for Grand Theft Auto 6’s November 19 launch, directly connecting a military retention program with one of the biggest game releases of the year.
“The idea was to have a unique incentives program that connects to what soldiers are interested in,” said Lt. Col. Angel Tomko, spokesperson for the 3rd Infantry Division, in a statement to Variety. So far, 20 of the 130 eligible soldiers in Fort Stewart’s 9th Brigade Engineering Battalion have reenlisted using the GTA 6 perk. A new career counselor proposed this incentive to unit leadership to help meet fiscal year 2027 reenlistment goals.
Why GTA 6 is the Chosen Incentive
Rockstar Games is set to release GTA 6 on November 19. Preorders opened on June 25, with the standard edition priced at $79.99 and an “ultimate” edition at $99.99, which includes an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, and apparel. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick described preorder demand as “unprecedented and astonishing” in the company’s June-quarter earnings report, although he noted that the scale of those preorders makes it difficult to predict actual sales.
For players, the Army’s offer highlights the cultural significance of this launch. A four-day pass is not a minor bonus; it represents dedicated time around a release that many fans have eagerly anticipated. Whether this incentive will significantly influence reenlistment decisions remains to be seen, but it certainly provides a more tangible recruitment hook than traditional slogans.
