Tired of attacking a point surrounded by Torbjorn’s auto-tracking turrets in Overwatch? Don’t worry, Blizzard thinks it’s ridiculous, too.
There’s no getting around a Torbjorn if you’re playing Overwatch on a console. His turrets can spot you from quite a long distance away, and they fire with pinpoint accuracy. Playing on PC this isn’t such a big issue because any Widowmaker, Soldier 76, Hanzo – well, anyone with any kind of ranged weapon can take out those turrets with ease. A mouse and keyboard afford much more accuracy and faster aiming than one can achieve using their thumbs on an Xbox One or PS4 controller. It’s for this reason that players have been calling for Torbjorn to be nerfed. Playing on consoles and facing an enemy team with two or more Torbjorns is an infuriating experience.
Blizzard has heard your cries, and is willing to respond accordingly. Just a few hours ago Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan took to Reddit and gave the following update: “In an upcoming patch, we will reduce the damage done by Torbjorn’s turret by 30% on Xbox One and PS4,” he said. “PC will remain unchanged. ETA – Mid to late July depending on 1st party certification times.” This comes right off the heels of McCree and Widowmaker getting nerfs of their own. As Competitive Mode approaches, Blizzard is making all of the heroes nervous that they’re next in line. Except for D.Va. D.Va’s all, “Nerf this!”
