Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Splatfest Kicks Off Today

  • May 5, 2018
  • Mischa McGill

The time for a new Splatfest has arrived, and this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle one is the first of its kind. The Splatoon 2 multiplayer event asks players to choose which brother is their favorite, thus splitting the results into four categories instead of the normal two. This will be the first tournament-style Splatfest any Splatoon game has seen and the first crossover with Nickelodeon.

The TMNT Splatfest, which is meant to celebrate Nickelodeon’s new cartoon Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, kicks off its first round today, May 4th, with Raphael and Leonardo facing off beginning at 9:00 p.m. PT / midnight ET. Next weekend, it’s Michaelangelo vs. Donatello on May 11th at 9:00 p.m. PT / midnight ET with the winners from the first two rounds taking on each other in the final showdown May 18th. Each round starts at the same time and runs for a full 24 hours before the fighting concludes.

All players can participate in all rounds of this tournament-style Splafest. So this weekend, players choose either Team Raph or Team Leo, next week Team Mikey or Team Donnie, and the final round whichever two teams claimed victory in the initial rounds. Like all previous Splatfests, the fighting is done via Turf Wars either in solo or team matches. The winners of each round will be determined with three numbers: popularity, solo wins, and team wins.

You can choose your team for each round of the Splatfest at the in-game video screen in Inkopolis Square starting now. Which masked ninja brother do you think will claim the victory? Let us know in the comments below.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
