Nintendo is releasing a new update for iOS and Android app game Super Mario Run next week on September 29th. The update will add a new playable character, a new game mode, and a new world to the mobile runner.
The upcoming new playable character is Daisy, princess of Sarasaland. Daisy will be Super Mario Run‘s seventh playable character, not counting the Yoshi color variations. She won’t be available to play right after you update though, as the princess will have to be rescued first by another character before she is added to your roster.
Super Mario Run‘s new game mode coming in the September 29th update is called Remix 10 and will provide the key to rescuing and unlocking Daisy. Here’s the official description of the new mode, via the Apple App Store:
“Remix 10 is a frenetic new mode in which you play a set of 10 super-short sections from Super Mario Run’s existing levels in quick succession. The stages are remixed with each attempt, and with rainbow-colored bonus medals strewn across these bite-sized stages, it’s a fresh challenge every time.”
The last major component of this update is the new world called World Star, which unlocks after completing worlds 1- 6. World Star will contain nine new levels, new enemies, and additional gameplay mechanics.
Nintendo is adding one more small feature in the upcoming update — you can listen to your own music while playing Super Mario Run. If you do, your character will be wearing headphones. It’s the little things.
To promote the new update, Nintendo is temporarily cutting the price of Super Mario Run in half. The game will be on sale from September 29th to October 12th.
