The first Splatfest since the launch of Splatoon 2 is set to begin tonight/tomorrow worldwide. As we previously reported, the first splatfest will be Ketchup vs Mayo.

The Splatfest event will be kicking off in America tonight at 9pm PT / 12am ET. However, the event will begin in the UK tomorrow at 3 pm BST. As expected, this splatfest will run for 24 hours straight. Exactly like the World Premiere Demo for Splatoon 2 which took place before the game was released.

How to take part in the Splatfest

To join the epic battle of Splatfest, you just need to pledge yourself to a certain side. In the case of this Splatfest, you must choose between Mayo or Ketchup. Players are encouraged to pick which ever side they like to consume the most.

There’s a special voting booth in Inkopolis Square. Players can use this booth to select which team they’d like to join however, it’s not possible to change side after making a choice. So make your choice wisely!

How it works

The total amount of wins you earn in Turf Wars will go towards the team’s overall score. The event is exclusive to the Turf War mode and players cannot earn for their team by playing ranked battles.

At the end of the event, players will be rewarded with Super Sea Snails. This is a rare item which is used to add additional slots to gear so players can get additional upgrades on their favourite gear.

Map

Nintendo will be launching Shifty Station for the event. This map will be exclusive to Splatfests and will be removed once the event is over. However, the next Splatfest will see it’s return with a slightly different layout.

Weapon

The developer has also confirmed that a free DLC weapon will be releasing for Splatfest. The Spoosh-O-Matic will be returning from the first Splatoon game with short range but high damage. In addition to this, the sub-weapon is a Curling Bomb while the special attack is Splashdown.

What side are you on for this Splatfest? Let us know!
