Nintendo’s been throwing us a lot of Zelda bones as we approach the March 3rd release date of Breath of the Wild. We recently learned about some beloved characters who will be making appearance’s in the series’ much anticipated new installment.

Yesterday, Game Informer released a handful of exclusive Breath of the Wild screenshots showing off Hyrule’s beautiful landscape and revealing some interesting features. Did you know Link needs to sheath his weapons to avoid been electrified during a lightning storm? What a world.

One screenshot confirmed a fun familiar face, Beedle, is returning in Breath of the Wild. Beedle appeared first in Wind Waker and most recently in Skyward Sword on the Wii. The adorable salesman has always had trouble selling goods with his less-than-conventional setups, and he’s mixing it up again with a giant backpack full of likely overpriced products.

Beedle looks all set to trek around Hyrule selling his wares, and he’s got his work cut out for him. Breath of the Wild is Nintendo’s biggest game to date and will likewise feature the largest explorable Hyrule ever. Happy trails, Beedle.

Another returning character–or rather, set of characters–was revealed on Nintendo’s Tumblr page today. Nintendo posted the below concept art with the caption, “Koroks are back in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.”

Koroks are a race of adorable Forest Spirits seen only in Wind Waker so far. The green guy on the left is a pretty standard Korok, but the yellow-leafed one is very different.

Rather than the smooth design of the familiar Korok, the right one is more gnarled with various bumps and growths. The yellow leaf hangs down kind of like a beard. Maybe the extra features represent a seasonal change in appearance or possibly a regional variatation. Or maybe this Korok is older and wiser and has some juicy Hyrulean secrets to share. Hmm…

What do you think of these returning characters? What roles will the Koroks play? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
