The Tokaigi 2017 tournament has just ended and the producer of Pokken Tournament has made an announcement. The game will be getting its own World Championship Series this year.
This news comes in the wave of the 2v2 Tokaigi 2017 tournament and after the voting of Evo 2017. As we reported earlier last week, the game just missed out on being in the tournament. Evolution Championship Series is the biggest eSports tournament in the fighting game genre and this year, the developers let gamers vote for which game they wanted to see at the event. Pokken Tournament took second place with $62, 431.
As Shoryuken reports, the producer for the game has made two huge announcements for the game. The first was the Pokken Championship Series reveal which will take place this year and the second is a new patch for the game.
While this is amazing news for fans of the game, no details have been released about the tournament so far. It’s still unclear which version of the game will be in the World Championship series. The organisers did reveal that the finals will take place in Anaheim, California.
The Japanese arcade version of the game has also been confirmed to be getting an update. The Pokken Tournament team have released the patch notes in Japanese but user ‘pentaoku’ has translated them into English.
Patch 1.5 is mostly a balance patch where the team have addressed a large number of issues in the game. The full translated patch notes have been made available through Google Drive and can be seen here. The user who translated them has also organised the patch notes to make it clear what the modification means for that Pokemon in the game.
There are no details about when this update will arrive for other versions of the game however.
We will update you as we learn more about the patch and the upcoming World Championship tournament.
