The developer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has issued a new statement to PC Gamer. PlayerUknown himself has told the publication that they will no longer be releasing the game within the time frame they announced earlier this year. In April is was announced that the game would be releasing around six or seven months after the game first entered Early Access. It now looks as though the developer has had to delay this.
“we have decided that we are going push the full launch back a bit from the initial six-month timeframe”
According to the statement, the game will still be releasing this year. The developers are still planning for a Q4 2017 release date however, there is currently no specific date or month.
“We will continue to push weekly and monthly updates until full launch as we want to ensure that the game we release is the best version possible.” reads the statement as the developer explains the situation a little bit more.
This is partly the reason behind why the developers have not provided an actual release date for the game. The developers would rather focus on improving the game with regular updates than estimate an exact release date for the game. Having a specific time frame could hinder the development of the game or could lead to disappointment if the deadline is not met. This approach certainly seems to be working for them. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become a tremendous hit since it was first released into Early Access in March.
Since that time, the game has received a large number of updates. These include bug fixes, improved gameplay and new content. In addition to this, the developers are planning to add more content to the game over the next few months.
Q4 of 2017 runs between October 1st to December 31st. Providing plenty of time for the developers to continue work on the game.
