Blizzard has announced that a new free weekend is coming for their FPS hit, Overwatch.
“Attention, recruits! If you haven’t already had the opportunity to suit up and save the world as one of the heroes of Overwatch, now’s your chance.” reads the blog post before delving into the specifics about the free to play weekend.
As expected, this is not for this coming weekend. Overwatch will be free to play next weekend instead. Meaning that between September 22nd and the 25th, you’ll be able to play the game for free. If you’ve never tried the game before this is a great opportunity to test and see if it’s worth joining the ranks of millions who’ve already played.
This free to play weekend includes all platforms the game is currently available on. Meaning that PC, Xbox One and PS4 players will all get a chance to compete on the battlefield. Players will also be able to level up, earn Loot Boxes and unlock different customization options to customize their Heroes.
All Heroes will be unlocked to players for the free weekend and in addition to this, all 16 maps will also be in rotation for free to play users. Players will also be able to explore everything the game has to offer including Quick Play, Custom Games and the Arcade.
As expected, if you decide to purchase the game after testing it then you’ll get to keep any progress made. As long as you purchase the game for the same account on the platform of your choice that is.
The free weekend period begins at 11am PT on September 22nd. That’s 19 pm BST for London and 20 pm CEST for the rest of Europe. It will be ending at 11:59pm PT across all regions participating in the event. You can see the full time zone conversions on the blog post here.
