Could this be pointing to an imminent reveal?
I eat, live, and breathe Nintendo NX rumors. Today when NintendoLife reported that fans had spotted a listing on UK retailer Tesco’s site, I was predictably curious. It’s not clear at this point whether this is a placeholder listing posted because of an imminent NX reveal, or if it’s a mistake altogether.
The release date of December 31 is clearly a placeholder, as we know the NX will be launching next March. What’s interesting here is the suggested price of £349.99. That’s about $450 USD, which is quite a bit more expensive than any of us would have thought Nintendo’s new mystery-hybrid to cost. I know my Australian readers don’t even want to think about how much it would cost them. I myself have been hoping and expecting a price closer to $250-300 USD, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Of course this listing could be a mistake altogether, but Nintendo and Tesco do have a history of working closely together. Back in 2013 they teamed up for a huge campaign of education and marketing with the aim of boosting Wii U sales. We also know that the NX has entered the early stages of mass production. Could we be in for a reveal soon? I certainly hope so, but I’ve learned not to hold my breath.
