No one celebrates indie developers like Nintendo.

Summer Jam

Nintendo is where you go when you want the most creative, progressive, and innovative entertainment in the industry. It’s only appropriate, then, that Nintendo celebrates indie developers creating games that embody that same spirit of creativity. It’s also a brilliant move on Nintendo’s part, planting seeds of partnership with a variety of up-and-coming indie stars, during a season when third-party support hasn’t been its strongest.

At any rate, there’s a host of fantastic indie games on the way for the Wii U and 3DS. Nintendo will be showcasing most of them at the Nindies @ Night event during this year’s PAX West. Nintendo also announced the Nindies Summer Jam, a four week celebration all about getting great games into your hands.

Every week in September Nintendo will be highlighting a different game as it hits the eShop. A special 10% launch-week discount will also be applied, making them all the more tempting. The schedule looks like this: On September 1 we get Axiom Verge (Wii U). Sept. 8 we’ll see Jotun: Valhalla Edition (Wii U). Noitu Love: Devolution (Wii U / 3DS) is coming Sept. 15, and a week after that Severed hits the Wii U eShop (and will be cross-buy on 3DS in the fall). On Sept. 30 Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 hits the 3DS eShop.

There are tons of other great games on the horizon, as well. Expect to see some sweet DLC for FAST Racing NEO really soon. I’m also looking forward to Hollow Knight and Stardew Valley. Nintendo put together a pretty sweet sizzle reel to get y’all pumped up, which I’ll embed below. Enjoy!
