It’s been announced that Monster Hunter XX will be getting a free demo this month ahead of the release date in Japan.
The Switch version of this game is releasing in Japan at the end of the month on the 25th. However, players will be able to test the game for themselves before then. A free demo is coming to the Eshop on the 10th next week.
This demo is exclusive to the Japanese digital store but as the console is region free, anyone can download it. Here’s how you download it from the Japanese store:
- Create a new Nintendo Account and set the region to Japan
- Link the account to your console
- Search the Estore through that profile and download the demo
As soon as you’ve linked the account to your console, you should have access to that region’s digital store. This does come with a downside however. The demo will be in Japanese with no English subtitles. However, it does give players a chance to check out the types of quests the game offers. Which is a good thing for people who have never played this series before.
Other regions
There is currently no release date for Monster Hunter XX outside of Japan. This is sad news for fans of the series but hopefully Capcom will release the game in other regions also. If the game does get released in other regions then we can expect to see the demo also coming in the future.
Monster Hunter XX is the expanded version of Monster Hunter Generations which was released for the 3DS in 2015. The expanded game first released earlier this year in March however, this version is also exclusive to Japan. There is currently no word on a global release for the 3DS version either.
We will report back with more information on the Western releases at a later date.
