Fable’s main quest will take roughly 15 to 20 hours, according to Playground Games, with a similar amount of optional content available outside the central story.
Speaking to Polygon, associate game director Will Kennedy said the upcoming RPG contains around 15 to 20 hours of mainline quests. Its side content and open-world exploration account for another estimated 15 to 20 hours.
Those estimates do not put a firm ceiling on an entire playthrough. Kennedy said Fable’s life systems are limitless, allowing players to continue engaging with them for as long as they want. Fellow associate game director Craig Littler put it more directly: players can “literally play it forever” if they choose.
That leaves Fable with a defined estimate for its main story and optional open-world content, but no fixed completionist runtime. The developers’ figures are also ranges rather than a single guaranteed completion time.
Fable, developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on February 27, 2027, Polygon reports.
