CD Projekt Red has detailed how The Witcher 3 Remastered will run on Nintendo Switch 2, confirming a 30–40 FPS range in handheld mode alongside variable refresh rate support.
Portable play will run at 720p, while docked mode targets 1080p. Variable refresh rate will also be available while docked when the console is connected to a 120Hz-compatible television. CD Projekt Red has not specified a docked frame-rate target.
The Switch 2 edition will support the system’s different playstyles and input options, including mouse controls, gyro aiming and touchscreen input. Players will also have access to a dual-grip mode, along with settings for gyro and Pro Controller sensitivity, camera stabilization and inverted controls.
Mods are coming to the Switch 2 release as well. CD Projekt Red said most mods will be available, though some will be excluded due to Nintendo guidelines or technical limitations. An 8K-textures mode is among the content that will not make the jump, but a complete list of unavailable mods has not been provided.
A physical edition may also be on the cards, although nothing has been confirmed. Asked about a boxed Switch 2 release, CD Projekt Red said, “The news will come when the time is right.”
The Witcher 3 Remastered is scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, 2026.
