Gamers will be able to explore the world of The Division for free this weekend. Players will be able to take the role of an agent for the Division which is trying to reclaim Manhattan after the city was devastated by a mysterious new disease. The disease spread through Black Friday and the city is still covered in Christmas decorations as a result.

Players will have a chance to play the game before they buy it with no restrictions. The usual 6 hour trial has been suspended for this weekend and players will be able to play as much of the game as they like. However, the free weekend if only for the Standard Edition of the game. Players will not be able to explore the expansions which were released last year.

Ubisoft’s blog states that players will be able to experience the single player, the co-op features, the PvP area and also a “year’s worth of tweaks and improvements”. Gamers will be able to experience the full Standard Edition version of the game.

This free weekend begins today and will be ending on May 7th for most regions. However, some regions will have slightly different times. The below image shows the times for when the free weekend is active for each region. The platforms will also have different times.

As expected, Xbox One and PS4 players will need to have subscriptions to the appropriate services. As the game is online, players need to have an Xbox Live or PS Plus subscription to play. PC players will need to launch the game through Uplay as the free weekend is not available through Steam.

In addition to the free weekend, The Division is currently on sale with a hefty 65% discount. Gamers will need to act quick if they want to get the game while it’s still on sale.
