Amazon and Twitch are facing a class action lawsuit over whether creators’ streams and videos were used to train generative AI without permission. Insider Gaming reports that the complaint targets Amazon’s use of content hosted on Twitch, putting creator consent at the center of the dispute.
Warren Pandiscia filed the complaint on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He alleges that Amazon used Twitch content to train its generative AI models rather than negotiating licenses with creators or seeking their permission.
What the complaint alleges
Pandiscia’s case focuses on Amazon’s alleged use of Twitch streams and videos for a purpose beyond their original publication on the platform. The complaint argues that creators should have been asked for permission or offered licensing agreements before their work was used for AI training.
These claims remain allegations made in the lawsuit. The central issue is whether Amazon had authorization to use creator content as training material for its generative AI systems.
Twitch offers creators an opt-out
Insider Gaming also reports that Twitch introduced a setting allowing streamers to prevent their channel content from being used to train Amazon’s generative AI models.
That gives streamers a way to decline such use, but the lawsuit challenges the underlying approach. Pandiscia alleges that permission should have been secured instead of Amazon using the content without licenses or consent.
Should Twitch require creators to opt in before their content can be used for Amazon’s AI training?
