A North American version of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 website is now live. Confirming that despite our shock and amazement, the game will be releasing this year for the Nintendo Switch.

While the current website (seen here) is a placeholder, a full website will be launching later this year as the Holiday 2017 release date approaches. There is still currently no specified release date for the upcoming RPG from Monolith Soft. It’s currently scheduled for a Holiday 2017 release and will most likely be the final major release of 2017.

The release of this game will mark the end of a great year for the Nintendo Switch. With titles such as Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battles, Splatoon 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild headlining the list of games for the console.

It’s still a shock to many that Nintendo is planning to release Xenoblade Chronicles this year but the publisher still seems to be intent on this. The release of this game would round off a great launch year for the new Nintendo console, potentially the most successful first year ever seen for a new console. Assuming the rest of the year goes as planned however.

For those who don’t know, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the sequel to the first Chronicles game. It follows Rex once again and his new friend Pyra who have started a search for Elysium. The mythical world which is said to be the ultimate paradise for humanity. It’s set during a time where the final remnants of humanity live on the back of massive beasts called “Titans” which roam the skies. As a result, the game is set in an ocean of clouds far above the surface of the Earth.

More news on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be coming later this year from Nintendo. We can expect to see a release date coming within the next few months.
