Microsoft announced their Netflix-like service earlier this year. The company has now announced that this service is finally ready for launch.
Those with an Xbox Live Gold subscription will be getting exclusive early access to the 14 day free trial. This free trial lets users test the Xbox Game Pass service before purchasing a subscription. While Xbox Live Gold members have access already, the free trial will be coming to everyone in June. The 14 day free trial will be launching on June 1st for everyone to test the new service before committing to it.
For those who don’t know or remember what the service is, it’s a Netflix-style game subscription service. Players will be able to download a range of games to play from their console. However, unlike Netflix there’s no streaming involved with this new service. All games need to be downloaded to the console before they can be played. In addition to this, it’s also possible to purchase a game in the Game Pass library for a discounted price. Microsoft has not confirmed what this discount is however.
While there are currently over 100 games available for Game Pass, Microsoft has confirmed that some of these games will be swapped out each month. This will allow the company to bring in new games for gamers to sink some hours into.
Microsoft has released a full list of all the games currently available in the service. The list includes the following games but is not limited to them:
- Halo 5: Guardians
- Lego Batman
- Payday 2
- Bioshock Trilogy
- Sunset Overdrive
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Layers of Fear
- NBA 2K16
- Saints Row IV: Re-Elected
- Mega Man Legacy Collection
- Borderlands
- Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition
The Xbox Game Pass service is formed out of a variety of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games. All of the Xbox 360 games are playable on Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility.
