Ubisoft is supporting the NX with more than Just Dance.
Ubisoft and Nintendo have had a great relationship in recent years. When the Wii was catching on and gaining steam, Ubisoft was there with its Raving Rabbids to take advantage of the system’s unique motion controls. With the Wii U, Ubisoft decided to take advantage of the two screens in new ways with ZombiU, a well-received survival horror game which actually ended up getting ported to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Ubisoft likes innovative hardware, according to CEO Yves Guillemot. “We always take disruptions on the positive side,” he said at a presentation attended by GameSpot. “We think each time that it’s an opportunity for our creators to take more risks.” Apparently Nintendo will be disrupting the industry again with the NX, which is rumored to be a console / handheld hybrid.
“The new Nintendo is a fantastic machine. It’s really a new approach, it’s really Nintendo, [which is] coming with something new again. We love it.” Ubisoft was one of the first publishers to formally announce its support of the NX, with Just Dance 2017 already headed to the console. Guillemot confirmed that we’d see more from Ubi as well. He mentioned that they were “working on some other projects.”
At this point, Yves Guillemot has said more about the NX than anyone from Nintendo. We’re all hoping for an announcement soon, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for a Direct in the near future.
